There is no target audience for this book.

It's hard for me to say who this book is for. If I had to guess, I'd say it's for the dedicated intermediate to advanced Delphi programmer with lots of time on his hands. At over 1000 pages, it's going to take some time to get through it. Worse, since the writing style is not consistent, it's hard to get into the rhythm of the book. With a good programming book, I know what I'm getting, so I can skim through sections that I get right away, and read more deeply through tough topics. This book is patchy, if you don't read it carefully, you'll miss things. It's also not a book for beginners. It expects you to be proficient in the Delphi IDE and Object Pascal. In that respect it would also not be a good reference, since there's not even a short chapter with Pascal basics. Although I can't speak for expert programmers, I bet they'd have a hard time liking this book, there's too much style that experts would find fault with, and as others have pointed out, it is not complete on advanced topics. I'm not sure why I'm giving it a 2, perhaps I'm being generous in the hope that I will read it again and find some hidden treasure.

I bought it for a project I was working on and I must say I'm impress. It has examples for every single scenario and give you the small and big picture of Delphi development.

I highly recommended.

Useful Aid. Don't pay too much attention to scaled scores.

This book was worth the $25 I spent. I bought it because AAMC only offers about 8 practice MCATs for purchase, and I did not want to use all of them in case I had to retake the test. Some key differences between the Kaplan and official AAMC Practice tests (on e-mcat.com) are:
(1) The physical sciences in Kaplan are more calculation intensive than AAMC. I believe this practice in doing more calculation-heavy PS sections really helped me on the real test. (2) The Kaplan scale for scores is waaaaay more lax than AAMC. I scored a 14 in Physical Sciences on one and I missed like 8-10 questions. No way. (3) The biological sciences sections are a bit easier than AAMC, but still good practice. I felt like the Kaplan Verbal sections were a bit harder, but, again, good practice.
While studying, I switched off between the companies' FLs; I would take an AAMC FL one day, then a Kaplan FL a few days later, then AAMC a few days after that etc until the big day. My AAMC practice range was 28-30. My Kaplan practice range was 27-35. I went in hoping and praying for a balanced 30, since I felt the Kaplan scores were a bit unrealistic. My real score: a balanced 33.
Overall, I felt that this was a valuable resource of full length practice tests, and would recommend it. I believe that using this book as a study tool resulted in the +4 point difference between my actual score and my AAMC practice average. That being said, don't read into Kaplan's predictive scaled scores too much. It will give you false hope.

Not accurate?

I've heard Kaplan does not do a great job of mimicking the actual test. I would go with Examkrackers for the Verbal section, especially.

Also, this book has a lot of typos. Sometimes the questions and the answer key do not match...

The Ancient Roots of Wile E. Coyote

This is a venerable book first having been published in 1956. Its continuing ready availability over sixty years later speaks to its importance in the field of mythology.

Radin contributes the majority of the essays that make up the book and incorporates additional perspectives by Kerenyyi , Jung, and Stanley Diamond. Included are in depth studies of the Winnebago Trickster and Hare Cycles as well as summaries of the Assiniboine and Tlingit Trickster myths.

The picture that emerges of the Native American expression of this pervasive archetype is comprehensive, deeply researched, and yet very accessible. It will be of value to students of cultural anthropology, as well as those of comparative religion and psychology.

In addition, however, and more unexpectedly it's also an interesting and entertaining read for the layperson.

Be forewarned though - no mention of the road runner is to be found.

The trickster at about as strange as it can get

Raul Radin's The Trickster presents one of the more refreshingling un-filtered American Indian story cycles. Given its age the language does tend to be a bit creaky and the pacing can be a bit slow for modern tastes. But very few readers will fail to have at least one or two well worn scales ripped from their eyes by shocks to either narrative expectation or standard decorum as they work their way through this amazingly fertile and amusing myth.

It is best to treat the tellings in this volume as transcripts, and then to replay them in your imagination to amplify the humor and humanity that are sketched out in the linear renderings.

There is great stuff here when you replay it in the windmills of your mind.

Coyote on the couch

Although occasionally dry, the connection between myth and psych is touched on here - distinguishing this material from more conventional anthologies of Coyote/Trickster legends. I might suggest the more readable Joseph Campbell, and indeed there's a bit of a connection between the two writers, and Carl Jung.
There's new material here, even if a little too intellectual for some. Some of the legends were new to me, and the valuable tidbits made it worth wading through. Jung's contribution is unique. In summary: It's a slower read, but worth the effort.

"The only thing that stays the same is the hatred"

Two decades ago Simon Kuiper travelled the world to write "Football Against the Enemy". Had he wanted to keep down his carbon footprint he needn't have travelled so far. James Montague's travelled back and forth from Libya to Iran and Yemen to Syria and all points in between and found endless animosities.
There is international rivalry but most of the bitterness is internal.
I've taken the title of my review from a remark by an Israeli fan but it could have come from many of the countries he visited. There was an earlier edition of this book. This is a revised edition. The period covered runs from 2007 to 2013 so it incorporates elements of the Arab Spring. Montague is sympathetic to his subjects but paints bleak pictures whether it's of qat-chewing in Yemen or of oil-money abuses in the Gulf and corruption just about everywhere.
Reading it my feelings were a mixture of gladness and sadness. I'm really, really glad I don't have to live in that part of the world with its levels of dysfunctionality and hatreds. My sadness was for the ordinary men and women who just want to play the game they love but are plagued with problems whether it be Iraqis knowing that bombs might be set off while they were playing by people who don't want Sunni and Shia, Arab and Kurd to unite or whether it is Palestinian girls, mostly Christians, trying to tackle not merely their opponents on the field but also the Israeli-Palestinian problem, the Hamas-Fatah rivalry and objections by some Muslims to girls wearing shorts.
