Great Study Tool

The words are listed in Greek alphabetical order, so at least some knowledge of the Koine Alphabet is required. That said, this is my favorite resource in my collection. I use it alongside my Greek/English parallel Bible.
It's very easy to use if you know how the word is spelled in Koine. It also provides in a few instances cross references. It has the Strong's numbers, but I never did end up using them.

This is a highly informative book which is useful for all dental students. It provides concise factual information and relevant diagrams, as well as histological slides. The book is also easy to read and interesting. There are boxes listing key features of the diseases, for a useful revision aid, and there are logical flow diagrams showing differential diagnoses. The book covers the aspects of oral medicine and pathology in depth, but also provides information about medically compromised patients and common dental diseases, such as caries and periodontal disease. As a BDS4 student I highly recommend this book!

This is an excellent book for dental students, which contains just the right amount of information coupled with some remarkable colour images. Don't let its title of Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine mislead you to think that it is just a collection of slides - it has a lot of in depth knowledge in all areas relating to oral health as well as a section with the relevant medical aspects of dentistry covered in good detail. It’s very easy to read and doesn’t contain a lot of waffle. The bullet point boxes highlight the relevant and important key features which are great for revision. I thoroughly recommend this book for all dental undergraduate students.

The perfect book for oral medicine!

Being a fourth year dental student, this book has provided a lot of information for oral medicine. A lot of my lecturers use this book in their handouts, so when you read those handouts you know where to look afterwards. It has nice diagrams which are easy to understand and make your studying a bit less stressful. What I also enjoyed in this book is that it doesn't stick just to oral medicine, but it also takes you a step further giving you information concerning not only dental but medically relevant information as well.

This book is great for revision! There are lots of pictures and histological slides, and the book is not loaded with text making it easier to read. There are summary boxes and flow diagrams. It also has information about 'normal' dental conditions such as caries and periodontitis and a section on medical emergencies. I don't know how I'd pass without this book!

Fantastic!

Utterly indispensable.

A summary of all aspects of oral med and path, both hard tissue and soft tissue. It’s categorized by type of pathology, and subdivided from that into specific lesions. There's a lot of information on the commoner conditions, although the rarer ones are worth only one sparse paragraph.

Well illustrated with lots of good pictures of pathologies, the section on cysts (which are, after all, the things most likely to come up in exams) is particularly good.

Very useful are the summary tables which list all possible causes of red patches/white patches/radiolucencies/whatever and their distinguishing features. They're easy to understand, memorize and regurgitate in exams.

This book is an ideal starting point for any dental undergraduate or indeed newly qualified graduate who is interested or needs to study these two subjects.

Everything in the text is something that a dental student should know. I really like the division into three core sections: hard tissues, soft tissue and medical pathologies. Many texts do not cover both the histology/pathology so successfully and the clinical aspects – usually it’s one or the other, but both are relevant, and I like the way the book ties them both together into a logical framework.

The book is very well written, and a good first port of call for learning about a new topic.

I began to understand that I had come into contact with what is called the “Higher Self”, the divine part, the soul, the particle of God that exists in everyone! I noticed that I had received an immense gift from Life as a reward for going after my dreams. For many people this might be incomprehensible or even absurd, which is perfectly natural, because it is not possible to understand something which is unknown. But I have also come to understand that for a growing number of people, the spiritual search is not only an intellectual past time, it is a vital necessity, something that is put into practice and lived day by day. With “The Science of Passion”, I hope to contribute to the search of some of these people, since my greatest dream is to be a channel of Light for my fellow man.

�In this book, I will write down my personal conversations with my “Higher Self” to attempt, like Mr Walsh, to give my personal contribution to spirituality. I believe, like him, that the world is in a state of calamity and needs to be changed, and that it depends on each of us to do our best to make sure these changes occur as soon as possible. It does no good to lay the responsibility on politics and expect that only it will transform the current situation. It is up to each one of us to contribute day by day, so that this world is not literally destroyed by present greed, and furthermore, that it evolves and finally becomes what it should be: a healthy environment in which people live happily and healthily.

I discovered that the Goddess is a sort of energy full of humor, purity, beauty, with great goodness, mischievously fun, with a unique generosity, and that kind of happiness that I have only seen so far in very small children. Meeting Her changed my life, and every day I am eager to connect with Her, a process that will be explained in the book, and that fills me with emotion and gratitude.

�As for the title, well, it introduces what will be my primary theme in this text. We shall speak essentially of passion and its fundamental role in human life. Psychologists and philosophers have said a lot about it. Generally, they refer to this energy as if they were dealing with a dangerous and absorbent illusion. I believe that here the Goddess will shed new light on this very important theme in our lives. She will explain, amongst other things, passion as being a real and necessary energy, in fact the most important of all energies, which we have to learn to direct and make use in our lives.

At the age of 27 I experienced a strong existential crisis that made me question the very essence of my being. After walking 800 km and completing a sacred pilgrimage in the heart of Spain, in 1999, my life changed drastically.� I had an ulcer on my cornea which almost made me lose my eyesight, I separated from a relationship of 10 years, I had a mystical experience and wrote "The Science of Passion". This book helped me to understand and overcome many of the hardships and difficulties that accompanied this emotional death and finally it helped my rebirth into a new life in which magic was not just a romantic idea, but the subtle organic fabric life is made of. I never lost the connection to my inner Goddess, which was awakened in those days of my tempestuous quest and then flourished as the greatest blessing of my life through the writing of this book. My wishes and desires were answered and met in ways unimaginable to me before. Paulo Coelho, a renowned writer and a modern prophet, my mentor and a beloved friend, used parts of this book in his novel "Eleven Minutes" which was read worldwide and has been opening many doors for "The Science of Passion" to slowly find its ways into many hearts all over the world. I met the "enchanted prince" I called for in the book and dreamt about for such a long time. He made me discover shades of emotions that I did not even imagine I had in myself, from extreme tenderness to bursting anger, from the heights of lust and mysticism to the valleys of despair and sadness. Thanks to his exquisite guidance, I saw it all and still feel there is so much more to see. He is an artist and a poet, an actor and a singer, my dearest master and a wise madman. Life has become so much more colorful and delightful under his touch. We have been traveling the world together for ten years, we got married three times, and I found out that it is really possible to have a passionate and exciting relationship. Being in love does not have to fade and stop over the years, it is a fire that can be kept alive and has the power to create entire universes, a spiritual mission that may grow infinitely, an unfolding adventure full of uncountable surprises and lessons, if not taken for granted and well taken care of.

About this book I can say first of all: WOW!!!

It has been a while since I have come across a book that has made me stay up all night reading, which is exactly what this book did to me. I think one of the charms of the "Science of Passion" is the way you can relate to the connecting thread of humanity in each of us - loneliness (even with a fellow;-), desire to love and be loved, to find the grat love, TRULY live, be happy, understand, etc. - and especially to keep the passion! And I felt that I came across this book at just the right moment in my life (I read it the first time about 3 years ago and it's still a part of my life).

The "Science of Passion" changed my life; it was/is a channel of light for me. It truly touched my heart, my soul; very deeply! The "Science" helped me to see some things clearer and to open my heart and listen to it. I began to observe more, paying attention to EVERYTHING, every moment, every movement, every gesture; I'm more carefully, living more passionate... I see things, I never have seen before; every day, every minute, every second. The book helped me to find my "inner light". I myself learned a lot from the "Science of Passion"; I found out so much, about me, about Love, about Life... The "Science" teached me to see and live the world with passion. Und how wonderful this is!!!

About the Author
Joel Karty earned his B.S. in chemistry at the University of Puget Sound and his Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry at Stanford University. He joined the faculty at Elon University in 2001, where he currently holds the rank of associate professor. He teaches primarily the organic chemistry sequence and also teaches general chemistry and physical chemistry. In the summers, Joel teaches at the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program through the Duke University medical center. His research interests include investigating the roles of resonance and inductive effects in fundamental chemical systems and studying the mechanism of pattern formation in Liesegang reactions. He has written a very successful student supplement, Get Ready for Organic Chemistry, Second Edition (formerly called The Nuts and Bolts of Organic Chemistry), published by Pearson.

This author teaches organic chemistry in the simplest way possible that seems easier than learning 2+2. He writes unlike other organic chemistry books that I've read and I learned quickly and efficiently from his book. He stresses the important elements of how to learn organic chemistry and it has helped me in both organic chemistry 1 and 2. The practice problems were super helpful because it helped me apply the concepts. You'll need this book if you are taking any organic chemistry classes in life.

This was such an amazing book! it was very detailed, and I was able to understand what I read. There was also plenty of practice questions covered from each chapter, which helped to continue my growth and success in Organic Chemistry.

Occasionally I have suggested to parents that they write down some of their thoughts and feelings in the form of a journal or a letter. Nearly always the act of writing seems to have a curious therapeutic effect. Thanks to Gillie Bolton's book, I shall be doing this more often. Gillie believes that while it is good to talk, it is even better to write. She teaches therapeutic writing to doctors, nurses, clients, prisoners, just about anybody who is interested...I am certainly going to do some therapeutic writing myself now and then, when I am ready, I shall suggest it to some of my troubled patients. If you read this book (and I think you should), you will want to be doing it too. -- Family Practice This is a bubbling cauldron of a book. I doubt if I have ever felt so driven to follow an author's enthusiasm to try out her ideas. Just take a sheet of paper and a favourite pen, she says, and for six minutes write whatever comes to mind. So I did, and what happened surprised me, because I hadn't really thought much of the notion. Gillie Bolton runs creative writing courses, and counsels and works as a therapist. She is convinced that writing is a true, gentle and accessible way for anyone to express themselves and that this can lead on to new understanding through rereading and perhaps revising the writing. A formidable parable on our inabiliy or unwillingness to submit to realities

Is Houellebecq getting moderate? Given the hype prior to the release of this book in connection with the events in Paris, I would have expected a much more controversial story. But most of the book is essentially an intellectual reflection on the literary opus of a rather unknown author of a gone century, sometimes quite lengthy. I am still rating the book with a five star, because like no other famous author he reminds us of prevalent prejudices, stereotypes, and hidden fears - and the inability of societies in Europe to deal with them.

He is also a member and presenter at the North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT). Jim was also named Regional Teacher of the Year by General Motors Corporation and outstanding alumni of Ohio Northern University.

"NEW" purchase from Amazon, does not come with all items listed by Publisher

Hello!

I am using this review to let others know of a product issue that I encountered.

Pearson education says that NEW copies of this book come with an Access Code. To allow buyers access into their online portion of the classes and/or online resources. The "NEW" copy of this book, when purchased directly from Amazon, does not come with this code. When I asked about it, the representative claimed that the code "was not part of the features listed".
While this is true, I want to make sure that others do not buy this new thinking that the code comes with it.

It is, BY FAR, cheaper to buy a used copy, and then purchase a new code directly from Pearson.

The only other option is to buy the new book, and then buy a code as well. no point in paying more for nothing extra.

Informative book lacks depth

This book is informative but lacks the necessary depth for the Title "Advance Engine Performance Diagnosis"....a better label would Pre-Advance Engine Diaginosis. This book needs to give challenging examples that illustrate "how to do" Diagnose difficult issues ....not straight forward ones. The book "Advanced" title is mis-leading.

it is a ok book a lot of spelling errors and a lot of good ,some outdate and bad info in the book. It as a lot of stuff in the book you don't need to know . This book could be have be cut in half and be a better book. An some of the inform is wrong. But I need it for a class if I wasn't taking the class I would never by it. Really the book just needs a total make over and redone from the begin. With out all the junk in it

Plot eclipsed by the romance.

Overall, this was the best book of Lucy Monroe's Mercenary trilogy. The characters we have met in the past two books, Ready and Willing, Claire Sharp and Brett "Hotwire" Adams are the most intriguing and realistic couple, with a more true kind of relationship. Brett has vowed to never fall in love and Claire resists the idea of an uncommitted sexual liaison. The chemistry between the two is highly combustible and carries the reader steadily to the last page.

The plot is a different matter. Claire is attacked in her own bed, despite Brett's safety measures, and even though Brett is supposed to be the best at security detailing and tracking criminals, he is unable to do either successfully. The book would also benefit from a thorough copy editing, especially in chapter three when Claire asks a man in his eighties about his involvement in World War I. It may have been a typo, or just a misunderstanding, but I found it distracting. Some of the other time line stuff didn't seem to ring true either, which can bother us detail oriented readers.

The villain, who isn't revealed until the end, seemed superhuman, capable of even more than the Mercs, and his final act of tyranny was rather far fetched.

In conclusion, a very worthwhile read and I believe the characters will stick with you long after the inaccuracies and mediocre plot fade away.

Introduction to books by Lucy Monroe

I won the this book in a Goodreads contest. I like to read series in order so I bought the first two books in the series, Ready and Willing. I had never read any of Lucy Monroe's books , but I was pleasantly surprised by these three books. I liked the characters and thought the plots were interesting. I thought she did an excellent job with the steamy relationships of each couple and yet kept the story going too. I will certainly read more by this author.

Tied for the Best of the Series

I'd never read a Lucy Monroe book until I picked up the 1. Ready 2. Willing 3. and Able trilogy. Having read them, I can safely say that I'll be picking up more of Ms. Monroe's books. The first in the series, Ready, was a little weak in the proofing department but the characters were great. It was in this book that readers were introduced to Wolf, Nitro and Hotwire, three really hot Mercs.

In the second book, Willing, readers were introduced to Josie's best friend and house-mate, Claire. It was soon evident that things were already starting to simmer in a subtle way between Hotwire and Claire. Fortunately for my peace of mind, I wouldn't be left hanging because Ms. Monroe had plans for these two...Brett Adams, a.k.a. Hotwire would soon play a pivotal part in protecting Claire Sharp's life in the third book, and Able.

In the plot for -- and Able

We find that Claire Sharp has few friends and major trust issues. She thinks she's unattractive and that sex is overrated. However, her feelings haven't stopped her from behaving like a love struck teenager whenever Brett "Hotwire" Sharp is around. What makes matters even worse is that Brett seems to be aware of Claire's feelings for him because he's gone to extremes to make sure that everyone within hearing distance is aware his "no commitment" policy with women.

Brett is equally attracted to Claire and just as determined to avoid her. However, Brett's struggle to stay away from Claire comes to an abrupt end when Claire is attacked. Thus, the ex-mercenary takes it upon himself to protect and care for Claire. Soon the two begin butting heads with each other but their passion for one another quickly overcomes their irritation with each other as Brett and Claire fall headlong into a deep well of desire.

Meanwhile waiting in the background is an unknown assailant, an enemy who will stop at nothing to get what he wants, even if it means a couple murders along the way.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading "and Able."

While the plot may not have been super exciting it was well within the norm for the Contemporary Romance genre.

The dialogue in "and Able" showed much improvement over the first book in the trilogy, "Ready." It was realistic in that the conversational tones between the characters were in keeping with any given situation the characters found themselves in.

The character development in "and Able" was fairly three dimensional, particularly, Claire's. Claire had an extremely hard life growing up and it showed not only in her inability to trust people with intimate details about herself, but also in the fact that she made few friends and trusted few people, particularly those in places of authority.

Brett was super sexy and downright devilish at times. When he wasn't being ornery, he was being protective, and when he wasn't being one or the other, he was usually trying to lure Claire into bed, which was usually all the time. (Grin) Brett, too, suffered his share of heartache, thus his commitment policy. That attitude is easy to identify with if you've ever lost a loved one. Unfortunately the loss of a loved one often leads many individuals to swear off ever loving another individual again.

Josie and Nitro make an appearance as do Lise and Wolf. It's nice to be able to revisit with each couple and I hope to be able to revisit with each of these fascinating couples in future books.

If you haven't already ready, 1. Ready 2. Willing 3. and Able, then you should. You'll find that each book is better than the previous, although, personally, I have a really hard time choosing between the second, Willing and the third, and Able, because I like the primary characters in both books so much.
